3rd DIPC and Gulf Cup 2011
November and December 2011 saw Skydive Dubai host their third Gulf Cup and International Parachuting Championships, a major tournament with 50 nations being represented throughout the competition, held from December 1st to 9th 2011 at Skydive Dubai’s stunning location next to the Palm Jumeirah, hosted and organized by the EMIRATES AVIATION ASSOCIATION (EAA)
INVENT Creative Event Solutions were commissioned to design and produce a spectacular opening ceremony which was held in a specially constructed arena for 1500 visitors and 200 VIP guests. Attended by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum with guest of honour HRH Hamzah Bin Al Hussein of Jordan, President of the Royal Aero Sports Club of Jordan, the audience were treated to a true multi-media show on a vast 30m wide angled stage which doubled as a giant projection screen with a cast of dancers, skateboarders, acrobats, traditional dancers, local children, horses lit up with lights and pyrotechnics, high speed skydivers in LED illuminated suits, a stunt plane, hot air balloons and a firework finale! One whole section of the show depicted the growth of the city via an animated imaginary journey along the Dubai Metro with the buildings creating themselves before your eyes. We also supplied a large proportion of the competitions AV requirements including large format outdoor LED screens along with networking to show the scores, video playback, a PA system to cover the entire site and much more.

When leading Beijing agency, Prime Advertising, needed to organize the annual BMW China dealer conference in Dubai, we were called upon to manage and provide a full technical and operational set up across 3 separate venues. The conference took place at Jumeirah Beach Hotel for which we provided:
Full 14m wide stage and backdrop with integral screens
Branded speaker lectern with audio and remote AV control and teleprompting
Ambient venue and highlight stage lighting
Additional side viewing screens
Bi-lingual English/Chinese IR SimTrans system
Full operation of the multi-media presentation with fully integrated back up systems
A three tier, 21m long outdoor stage to enable a composed team photo in front of the Burj Al Arab
The subsequent gala dinner was held at the Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa Tower. For this event we designed and installed the following:
A multi-level tiered pre function seating area with a mix of soft and cocktail style seating, illuminated with LED lighting and a central illumination feature.
Ambient lighting and PA system with DJ playing chilled sounds
Fire dancer entertainment and novel attractions during the pre-function
A 23m x 5m branded backdrop with integral screens and 17m x 7m stage
Separate band stage with full AV, sound and light for a variety show performance
Full operation of a multi-media presentation integrated with 3 camera live feed for client provided interactive entertainment
Provision of all additional entertainment including a 6 piece jazz band and dance troupe performing in a variety of different styles.

When Xerox wanted to create an innovative and exciting event for their annual staff party, they approached Invent to provide a theme and all the operational aspects of a gala dinner for their 300 employees. The chosen theme was 1970’s disco! Held on the lawns of the Habtoor Grand Hotel, Invent installed a full stage, light and sound system including a funky LED dance floor, mirror balls and relevant décor. This included:
Mirror ball and LED light table centre pieces
Seat decorations with giant butterflies
Ambient event lighting
DJ playing a selection of classic 1970’s dance, Indian and Arabic favourites
A themed 1970’s live band
Fancy dress elements for all the guests
A photo memory board where images were printed on site and guests could take home pictures of themselves enjoying the celebrations

ADCO Awards 2010
This was the second year in succession that we have organized and managed the Abu Dhabi Company for Offshore Oil Operations (ADCO)’s Annual Staff Long Service Awards at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Abu Dhabi, an event held for 400 awardees, their families and VIPs. We themed and decorated the entire ballroom and adjacent dining room using ADCO’s logo colours, provided seat back ribbons for the chairs along with other decor elements for the event. We also provided all effect lighting, including the dramatic use of lasers and fogging machines, AV equipment, and technical support for the event, as well as a specially-fabricated Arabic style tower.
The event went very well indeed and we managed to better the year before on the layout and décor. All guests and the hosts were impressed by the beautiful setting, effects and general production of the ceremony and we received generous positive feedback regarding the event.

Al Kout Mall Festival of the Sea
As part of a government initiative to attract investment into a region of Kuwait with a traditional history of being the primary dhow wharfage and fresh fish distribution centre, Tamdeen Development created a new mall called Al Kout, for which we were recruited to manage the opening launch.
We were responsible for:
• Concept creation and event design
• Turnkey event management of the mall’s opening launch activities
We created a theme based around a “Festival of the Sea” with a unique stage show and a week of carnival activities in and around the mall, designed to attract visitors from the local area and Kuwait City. This prestigious and memorable event was a huge success and is still recalled to this day as one of the most spectacular to be brought to the country.
Event Information
The venue featured a new harbour and marina which was modified for the week with a floating stage, full light and sound systems, inflatable sets, water screens, water curtains and pyrotechnics for the show. We designed the entire show, which was then choreographed and rehearsed with performers from the UK along with specially designed costumes, and brought the entire production to Kuwait.
The sets were giant inflatables that could be collapsed within a few seconds to allow clear vision for the water screens behind. The highlights of the show were the aerial performances as a ‘scuba diver’ appeared to swim through space, descend to the stage and carry away a acrobat who then performed a stunning aerial circus show 30 meters above the audience.
The finale was a synchronized, four-person, aerial silk act that stunned the audience at every performance. Additional aspects created for the event included a series of floats depicting underwater scenes, giant inflatable sea creatures, flags and decorations, and a series of beach activities such as displays from leading jet-ski and waterskiing teams. At night, the whole centre was illuminated with architectural lighting and thousands of twinkling lights on the palm trees lining the front of the mall.

ADCO Awards Ceromony 2009
Our first job for Abu Dhabi Company for Offshore Oil Operations (ADCO) was to organize all elements of their annual staff long service awards at the Intercontinental Hotel, Abu Dhabi in November 2008.
The challenge was to provide sufficient and elegant seating within the main ballroom for some 300 staff awardees and their families. We created tiered seating down the sides of the hall for the awardees and theatre style seating with accompanying coffee tables in the middle for the VIP guests and the awardees’ families. We themed and decorated the entire ballroom using the UAE national colours and provided seat-back ribbons for the sit-down dinner in the adjacent ballroom after the ceremony.
As well as providing all effect lighting, AV equipment and technical support for the event, we also provided a revolving, 3-D ADCO logo which was mounted on the projector tower, thus creating a decorative feature out of a necessary piece of technical equipment.

5 Dynasties Show
In May 2009, we were commissioned to bring this show to Abu Dhabi in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China and 25 years of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE.
Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, and by invitation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, the show performed in front of a capacity audience at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation Theatre.
We performed a consultancy role in the lead-up to the show’s arrival in the UAE, dress rehearsal support and support in technical aspects of the production. We interfaced between the Chinese production crew and the local theatre team as well as providing guest management services on the night.

Spirit of the Horse
In 2003, we brought the largest equestrian variety show to the UAE as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival celebrations. Spirit of the Horse is one of the most successful touring shows in the UK, and the logistics required to bring it to Dubai were enormous, including chartering two specially configured Boeing747 jumbo jets to transport the 45 horses and their grooms from Europe. Special quarantine stables had to be created behind the actual performance site to allow the animals entry into the UAE.
The event took place in a 3500-seat, ‘equestrian theatre’, big-top marquee, located on an open site close to Wafi City. We planned and implemented the entire site, from access to car parking, ticket offices to refreshment areas, VIP majlis to concessions.
We broke new ground by devising the first-ever branding campaign in the arrivals area of the Dubai International Airport, with event posters on the front of every passport control desk. Spirit of the Horse was the most attended event of the Dubai Shopping Festival that year, despite the outbreak of the second Gulf War and a corresponding drop in tourist traffic.

Chinese Embassy National Day
We were approached by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the United Arab Emirates to turnkey manage all elements of their National Day Celebrations at the Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Hotel in September 2008. The Embassy hosted a VIP cocktail reception and dinner for 200 dignitaries including ambassadors of all other embassies in Abu Dhabi.
We provided all entertainment and décor elements including:
• Traditional hanging Chinese lanterns for the main entrance
• Table decorations
• Floral arrangements
• Traditional welcome drummers at the main entrance
• An exhibit featuring over 100 photographs from the 2008 Beijing Olympics
• A large stage backdrop featuring a large projection screen showing Chinese and UAE National flags
• All sound and lighting equipment
